La Mesita: Inclusive software for learning how to read

Summary

La Mesita is an application designed to promote reading development among children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a flexible, organic and fun way, through a sequence of activities that include stimulating auditory discrimination, phonological skills, language skills and the alphabetic and literacy principles.

This tool is flexible enough for users to play and explore on their own or work with a mediator who can design a tailored intervention program. The application comes with a User Manual that doubles as a model for reading instruction including a series of recommendations related to designing and implementing a stimulation program.

Resource for foundations or institutions providing support for special needs children.

Advantages

La Mesita is a free, downloadable application for touch devices, recommended for tablets. An Internet connection is required for downloading the App, but it can be used without WiFi.
