Book designed to involve children in dealing with a serious family illness

Summary

This book, entitled “Our grandma Clara is sick at home, now what?” was written by a team of UC researchers to provide support material for parents and/or caregivers facing serious illness.

Javiera and Benjamín are siblings. Their grandmother Clara has been seriously ill lately, and this has been an important turning point in the children’s lives. Their daily routine has changed, as well as their relationships with relatives and their grandmother, and their rapidly changing emotions are difficult to understand… although it was a challenging time for the entire family, it was ripe with learning opportunities. Now the children want to share their experience with you, because they know you are going through something similar… Would you like to join them?

A serious illness is a crisis in anyone’s life. Nothing will be as it was before, and not only for the sick person, but for everyone else around him or her. This book (which includes a support text for parents and/or caregivers) talks about these changes, emotions, family relationships and above all about the importance of taking care of yourself and others.

This book is available in hardcopy and digital formats at leading bookstores across the country.
